Paro Taktsang, also known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery, is one of Bhutan’s most iconic and spiritual landmarks. It's a breathtaking monastery that is perched on a cliffside, nearly 3,000 meters (about 10,000 feet) above the Paro Valley, and is often considered one of the most beautiful and revered locations in Bhutan. The journey to this monastery is both a physical and spiritual adventure, making it a must-visit for anyone traveling to Bhutan.

Daywise Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri & transfer to Phuentsholing / Jaigaon.

Arrive at Bagdogra Airport ( IXB ) / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station ( NJP ) / Siliguri Junction ,guest greeted by our official executive and after briefing the sort itinerary.Guest will be guided to move to Indo - Bhutan Border ( Phuentsholing / Jaigaon ), passing through picturesque tea garden estates along the way.

One notable attraction in Phuentsholing is the Zangto Pelri Lhakhang, a small temple located in the heart of the town. The temple's tranquil surroundings also double as a park, providing a pleasant place for both locals and tourists to relax. Many elderly citizens visit the temple to perform circumambulation.

Explore the evening at the local market, if time permit.

Stay at Phuentsholing / Jaigaon(Border Town of Bhutan ).

Day 2 : Transfer to Thimphu.

After completing immigration formalities at Border town of Bhutan , proceed towards Thimphu (Capital Town of Bhutan ).Enroute passing through Gedu, which situated at an altitude of 9000 ft above sea level. Enjoy the view of Chukha Dam along the way and make a stop Wankha Waterfalls for a photo session.

Stay at Thimphu.

Day 3 : Excursion to Punakha.

Day Excusion to Punakha Valley (77 kms / 3 hrs / 4,300 ft.), (Via. Dochu-La-Pass 10,170 ft.).

Dochula Pass: Dochula Pass, 3100 m high between Thimphu and Punkaha, offers scenic Eastern Himalayan views with 108 stupas and beautiful snow-covered winters.

Punakha Dzong (Fortress) : It is the most beautiful Dzong in Punakha, nestled between two rivers named Pho Chu (male) and Mo Chu (female). Mo Chu is popular with first-time visitors, children, and the elderly. Visitors to the Punakha Dzong will not only be captivated by the Bhutanese architectural marvel, but will also have the opportunity to learn about the holy history of this historic site.

Punakha Suspension Bridge : Punakha Suspension Bridge in Bhutan, one of the oldest suspension bridges in the world, is thought to have been constructed by Buddhist monk Thangtong Gyalpo.This historic hanging bridge is lined with prayer flags and is an ideal location for taking wildlife and birdwatching photos.This old bridge is well-known throughout the world for its gorgeous beauty.

After excursion from Punakha , back to Thimphu.

Day 4 : Thimphu local sightseeing & transfer to Haa valley.

Explore the day at Thimphu Town.

The National Memorial Chorten : Built-in the memory of the third DrukGyalpo (Head of Kingdom) of Bhutan, the National Memorial Chorten is devoted to World Peace. The Chorten popular amongst the localities for various major Buddhist religious festivals and it is one of the best places to see in Thimphu Bhutan.

Buddha Dordenma Statue :  Atop a hill in Thimphu, is a massive, golden Buddha sitting atop a gilded meditation hall. Hidden inside its hashas 125,000 smallerBuddhas. This means that in Thimphu, there are more Buddha statues than this city`s population(100000) ,It is also known as Budda point.

Takin Preserve Centre :  For animal lovers, Motithang Takin Preserve is one of the best places to visit in Thimphu. Takin -The national animal of Bhutan, lives in the MotithangTakin Preserve in Thimphu.

The National Library : It is also known as Institute for ZorigChusumhere students are taught courses like traditional drawing,painting,carving and to develop skills in  arts and crafts.

Painting School : The Institute for ZorigChusumhere offers courses in traditional drawing, painting, and carving to help students develop skills in arts and crafts.

Bhutan Textile Museum : The Bhutan Textile Museum showcases Bhutanese dresses and textiles, providing a comprehensive understanding of the country's history in terms of textile and traditional clothing. 

The Clock Tower : Clock Tower Square in Bhutan is an architectural marvel with four clock faces, attracting visitors for its beautiful paintings and carvings. Located near numerous restaurants and souvenir shops, it's a popular destination.  

Tashi Chho Dzong : Also called Thimphu Dzong, it is a monastery situated next to the Wang Chhu River. The Tashi Chho Dzong also hosts the annual three-day Tsechu festival each year. The year it was constructed was 1216 A.D.

Simply Bhutan ( Traditional Culture Program ) : Simply Bhutan is an interactive 'living' museum that gives a quick introduction to various aspects of traditional life in Bhutan. Visitors are greeted with a shot of local arra (rice spirit), before being guided through mocked-up village scenes. Along the way, you can dress up in traditional clothes, try out archery and hear songs sung by Bhutanese women as they build houses out of rammed earth. It's touristy, but a good family experience.

After Excursion Transfer to Haa Valley.

Stay at Haa Valley.

Day 5 : Transfer to Paro.( via chele la pass).

After break fast drive to Paro from Haa valley. Along the way, you will pass through the towns of Chelela and Soe, where you can stop to take in the views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. On the way back, we will stop for a few minutes to visit Kyichu Lhakhang monastery, located on the side of the Paro Chu river.

Stay at Paro.

Day 6 : Paro local sightseeing.

Explore Paro Town.

Paro Taktsang (Tiger's nest monastery) : Paro Taktsang, a sacred Vajrayana Himalayan Buddhist site in Bhutan, is one of thirteen Tiger's Nest caves in Tibet. Located in the outskirts of Paro district, it is the most sacred Buddhist site in Bhutan, with a cluster of temples clinging to a steep cliff at 3120 meters above sea level.

National Museum of Bhutan : The old watchtower showcases many ancient Bhutanese artifacts and artwork, such as traditional costumes, armor, weapons, and handcrafted tools used in daily life, reflecting the country's cultural heritage.

Ta Dzong : Ta Dzong, formerly a watchtower constructed in 1649 to defend Rinpung Dzong during times of war, was repurposed as Bhutan's National Museum in 1968.

RinpungDzong : Rinpung Dzong, also called Paro Dzong, was constructed in 1644 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It features traditional Bhutanese architecture and is a top tourist destination in Paro.

DrukgyalDzong : The Buddhist monastery is known as the 'Victorious Fortress' and is where numerous triumphs against Tibetan invaders occurred. It is revered as Bhutan's most stunning and renowned archaeological location.

Paro Airport (View) :  This airport is among the most beautiful in the world and serves as the country's sole international airport. Offering a spectacular view, it has become a popular attraction in Paro.

KyichuLhakhang : The Kyichu Lhakhang, also referred to as the Kyerchu Buddhist Temple, is a significant pilgrimage site. It is one of 108 temples constructed by the king, making it both ancient and visually stunning. This monastery is highly popular among visitors and is one of the most frequented in Paro.

Day 7 : Departure from Paro to Phuentsholing.

Drive from Paro to Phuentsholing , will take approximately 04 - 5 hrs Journey. 

Visit Kharbandi Gompa on your way to Phuentsholing. Enjoy a leisurely evening after checking in at the hotel.

Spend the evening at the local market.

Stay at Phuentsholing / Jaigaon( Border Town of Bhutan ).

Day 8 : Departure from Phuentsholing to Bagdogra Airport.
